Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a widget to my desktop?
Right-click on your macOS desktop and select "Edit Widgets". Search for
"CoreSignal" in the widget gallery. Drag any widget to your desktop, or click the + button.
Widgets are available in small, medium, and large sizes.
Can I choose which stats are shown in a widget?
Yes! Right-click on any CoreSignal OS widget on your desktop and select
"Edit Widget". You can choose which stat categories (CPU, Memory, Disk, Network, Battery)
to display in each widget independently.
Why does the Network Deep Dive widget show Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi?
The Network Deep Dive widget automatically detects your active connection.
If your Mac doesn't have Wi-Fi hardware (like a Mac Mini) or if Wi-Fi is disabled, it will
gracefully fall back to showing your Ethernet connection details instead, including link speed,
upload/download stats, and IP address.
How often do the widgets update?
Widgets refresh their data through macOS WidgetKit's built-in timeline
system. The system typically updates widgets every few minutes to balance freshness with
battery life.
Does the app use any network or send data?
No. CoreSignal OS runs 100% locally on your device. It reads system
statistics using macOS APIs and displays them in widgets. No data is ever sent to any server.
The app makes zero network requests.
What macOS version is required?
CoreSignal OS requires macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later for widget functionality.
The app uses the latest WidgetKit features including the Liquid Glass design language.
Why does the app need network permissions in its entitlements?
The network client entitlement is required by macOS to read network
interface statistics (upload/download byte counters, link speed) using system APIs. The app
does not make any outbound network connections — it only reads local network interface data.
